Stand Alone

Student Success Statement

“Dare to stand alone.” This quote was stated by Thomas S. Monson. I think what Thomas is trying to inform us is that we shouldn’t be afraid to stick up for ourselves or be the only one to choose the right. It doesn’t necisarrily mean that we have to isolate ourselves or exclude ourselves from hanging out with friends or family. It just mean that you should know when and when not to be hanging out with certain types of people. For example, if your so called friends ask you to join them to smoke a ciggarette, and everyone you know is tagging along, you shouldn’t be afraid to say what you want. You should be brave and leave. You should have courage to say no and choose the right. It is ok if you’re the only one not smoking. This makes you the bigger person and it says more about you. It shows a lot of character. I agree with Thomas S. Monson because I think everyone should dare to stand alone if that is what it takes to be brave and show courage.
