Any Topic

I chose to talk about New York today because it is such an interesting place to live in or to visit. New York City consists of 5 boroughs. Each of which is a separate country of New York State. The five boroughs Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, The Bronx, and Staten Island were consolidated into a single city in 1898. Some interesting facts about New York is that it 722 miles of subway track. The Big Apple is a term coined by musicians meaning to play the big time. New York was the first state to require license plate on their cars. New York is home to 58 species of wild orchids. It has over 70,000 miles of rivers and streams. The first American chess tournament was held in New York in 1843. I actually visited New York myself about three years ago in 2014. It was such a fun time. Many memories were made there that I will never forget. I visited a lot of well known places. I also met new interesting people. I was supposed to go back this year, although I don’t think it will be happening any time soon. I do wish to go back.

Wrong is Never Right
Student Success Statement

“Even if everyone is doing it, WRONG IS NEVER RIGHT.” This statement was stated by Russell M. Nelson. What Mr.Nelson is trying to inform us is that just because all of your friends, or all of your family members, or all of your classmates are doing drugs it doesn’t mean you should do it because it is the wrong thing to do. For instance, if you didn’t study for a test you have the next day and your friends tell you to cheat off of somebody else because they did it and it’s ok, you shouldn’t. That is choosing the wrong. A bad influence. You should probably not hang out with those so call “friends.” This is why I personally agree with Russell M. Nelson. He is a good influence.

Places

Bora Bora is a small South Pacific island northwest of Tahiti in French Polynesia. The road that wraps around Bora Bora is only 19 miles from beginning to end. It is surrounded by a lagoon and a barrier rief. Bora Bora is a tiny island made up of three villages; Anua, Faanui, and Vaitape. It is known for its popular luxury resort destination. This is a pest free zone. There are hundreds of underwater species. During the second World War the US choose these islands as a supply outpost for USA’s South Pacific Fleet. There is no letter B in Tahiti language. Instead it has a letter P. Therefore Bora Bora is actually named Pora Pora. Pora Pora has a definition of first born.  If you are looking for a place where you can run away from everything and enjoy your solitude, Bora Bora is the one. I selected this island because I’ve always wanted to visit it along with New York, but I already went to New York so now I must visit Bora Bora.

NEVER
Student Success Statement

Have you ever wondered, when is doing what is right wrong? Or when is doing what is wrong right? Well Thomas S. Monson states that “You can’t be right by doing wrong; you can’t be wrong by doing right.” This is Mr.Monson’s response. His answer is never. I personally agree with Thomas S. Monson because there is never a time to do bad or inapropriate things. There is only one way to do the things and it is the right way. You are never going to be good by doing wrong.

Enthusiasm

What is enthusiasm? Enthusiasm is when you have eager enjoyment. What does enthusiasm do to you? According to Dr.Norman Vincent Peale “Enthusiasm makes the difference.” If you’re having a bad day it’s probably because you’re being depressed. Maybe you’re being impatient. Maybe you’re not being enthusiastic. If you’re having a tough time you need to be more enthusiastic. You need to be happier, excited. You need to enjoy everything positive in your life. This helps alot. It brings all good vibes to you and everyone surrounding you. If you’re full of negativity saying you can’t accomplish something you’re just making yourself believe but you are capable of more than you think. But if you’re are optimistic, you can try and achieve what you want to. This is why I agree with Dr. Norman Vincent Peale.

Student Success Statement

Dean Smith was a men’s basketball coach. He was called called a “coaching legend” by the Basketball Hall of Fame. He coached for 36 years at the University of North Carolina. Said by Dean Smith himself, “I wasn’t trying to leave a legacy. I was trying to do what was right.” Dean Smith never planned on becoming such a big star, but it happened. Dean Smith never cared about the attention, money, or fame. He always cared about doing the correct thing to do. Anyone can choose to do wrong in the world, but Mr.Smith never chose to. He could’ve cheated for all I know. But he didn’t. He chose to do the right thing for both him and his team. How does this apply to us? How is this revalent? This can teach us to always choose the right. He is a great role model to learn from.
