Columbus Columbus
Christopher Columbus
was born in October 31, 1451 in the Republic of Genoa, Italy. He then died in
May 20, of 1506 in Valladolid, Spain. The explorer and navigator, Christopher
Columbus made four trips across the Atlantic Ocean from Spain: in 1492, 1493, 1498,
and 1502. Christopher Columbus was determined to find direct water route west
from Europe to Asia, but he never did. Instead, he accidently stumbled upon
Americas. Though he did not really “discover” the New World-millions of people
had already lived there-his journeys marked the beginning of centuries of trans-Atlantic
conquest and colonization. Christopher Columbus is credited with discovering the
Americas. His explorations paved the way for the colonization and explorations
of these areas. His first voyage into the Atlantic Ocean in 1476 nearly cost
him his life.
