True Independence and Freedom

“True independence and freedom can only exist in doing what’s right.’’ This was stated by Brigham Young. I think Brignham Young is trying to inform us that the only way to be free and be independentis by choosing the right all the time. If you have detention everyday you won’t get what you need. So if you really want something you’ll earn it by doing what’s right. If you cheat your way through it, it won’t last you very long. And I personally believe with Brigham Young because I also believe that in order to get what you need or want you should always do what is right no matter what. You don’t need to spend money or time with a psychiatrist. You simply have to CTR 24/7. So if you are wondering how to have freedom or independence, choose the right.

I Won’t Cheat

Why do people cheat? Is it because they’re confident about themselves? Do they not think they can pass a test or win a game without trying. Well there was once a man who had to compete in a sport. He had to run as fast as he could to get to the finish line. He had to make sure he was the first one there to win. Although, he didn’t necesarlly practice like all the other competeters did. He cheated. He took steroids. He also ended up wining. It wasn’t fair to the other athletes who worked fairly. It wasn’t fair that  they took so long to practice to acheive and win and one guy just comes in with a simple way to win. He cheats. So I agree with Dale Murphy when he says “I wont cheat.”

“Character Matters Most”

Dale Murphy says “Character Matters Most.” I agree with Dale Murphy. It doesn’t matter whether you win all your baseball, basketball, soccer, or football games all the time or not. For instance, if you win your a football game and you keep bragging about it or teasing the other team about it, that doesn’t make you the bigger person. You show less character. You may have won but your actions will say otherwise. Although, if you win the game and show good judgement by thanking the other team for a good game, or say great job, you show a lot of dignity. You show character. Therefore, I agree with Dale Murphy.

St. Patrick’s Day

1. St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, is one of Christianity’s most widely known figures. But for all of his prevalence in culture, namely the holiday held on the day of his death that bears his name, his life remains somewhat of a mystery. Many of the stories traditionally associated with St. Patrick, including the famous account of his banishing all the snakes from Ireland, are false, the products of hundreds of years of exaggerated storytelling.

2. St. Patrick’s Day occurs annually on March 17 in observance of the death of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland  What began as a religious feast day in the 17th century has evolved into a variety of festivals across the globe celebrating Irish culture with parades, special foods, music, dancing, and a whole lot of green.

3. The first documented St. Patrick’s Day celebration in Philadelphia was held in 1771. Philadelphia’s friendly sons of St. Patrick was found to honor St. Patrick and to provide relief to Irish immigrants in the city. Irish Americans have celebrated St. Patricks Day in Philadelphia since their arrival in America.

4. The green of the Irish flag represents the the official color for St. Patrick’s Day.

5. -The humble shamrock was originally a teaching tool.
-St. Patrick is said to have used the three-leaved plant to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish.
-The first St. Patrick’s Day parade took place in New York in the 1960s

A Right Heart

“Great beauty, great strength, and great riches are really and truly of no great excuse; a right heart exceeds all.” This was a statement that Benjamin Franklin said. I think he is trying to inform us that no matter how rich, wealthy or how many good looks you have or how powerful or strong you are, having a true kind heart will always win that. I agree because if you have all good looks, are rich, and is strong but you don’t have a right heart all of that is pointless. The money will probably be spended on something useless instead of something that can be usefull. Why have all these qualities when you can’t do well with them. A kind hearted person will succeed more than one who doesn’t. Whether you’re rich, good looking, powerfull or not you should have a kind heart.

Create It
“The best way to predict your future is to create it.’’ This statement was said by Charles Ketterer. I think he is trying to explain to us is that the only way to see what will happen to us years by noticing the actions you take. So if you act appropriatley and behave well, you will start to realize that you should have a bright future ahead of you. Although if you are a person who behaves rude and keep making those decisions, then you will not have a good life. So you yourself will know the outcome of your future based on your actions. For example, if you listen to your parents and so everything you are supposed to, there shouldn’t be a reason why you don’t live a decent lifestye.

Student Success Statement

“Ask yourself is it right or wrong and act accordingly.” This statement was stated by Otto Graham, Jr. I agree with Otto Graham. I agree because without thinking about the decision you have to make you’ll always say yes to whatever the offer is being given to you. And maybe sometimes the offer can be bad. For example, lets say you told your parents you’ll be home by 11:00, although your friends ask you to stay longer and have some fun and drink a few beers. Without thinking about the consequences you’ll have negative impacts in your life. Although if you say no and leave you will be making an appropiate choice and make wise decisions. You’ll be choosing the right.

In Acting Well

What is honor? Honor is having high respect. Alexander Pope once said “Act well your part; there all honor lies.” I think he is trying to explain how you should treat others. You shouldn’t be half nice and half bad. You should be entirely kind. When you do so respect will come towards you. Be loyal, respectful, productive, caring, etc. I agree with Alexander Pope. Everyone should act well towards everyone. No matter who the person is.
