Operating Room Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
An operating room technician prepares the operatng room. They make sure all necessary supplies and surgical tools are sterile and ready. They keep track of all items used during surgery to make sure nothing gets missplaced. They also provide other assistance during operation. They clean up the operating room after surgery.
Salary:
The current median annual income of ORTs is calculated to be $43,350. Salaries range anywhere from $30,780 to $62,170. Pay varies with experience.
Education:
A high school diploma or a GED satisfies the qualifications for a candidate to enter the necessary training programs and become an ORT. However earning an associate’s degree or bachelor’s usually makes an operating room technician more desirable to employers.
Demand for this Profession:
Operating room technicians must be skilled in operation procedures and knowledgeable about human anatomy.
Reflection:
I don’t think becoming an operating room technician suits me. I feel like I would make too many mistakes in a serious career that includes the lifes of a human being.
