Neurosurgeon
Duties and Responsibilities:
Neurosurgeons perform surgery on the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves to remove tumors, relieve chronic pain and treat wounds, vascular disorders and diseases such as Parkinson’s and epilepsy.
Salary:
A survey conducted found a median starting salary of $395,000 for neurological surgeons. After six years in practice, the average salary grew to $589,500. “NMW reports that neurosurgeons six to fifteen years into their profession earned a median income of $914,796.
Education:
You must have a doctorate degree to become a neurosurgeon. Degree field has to fall under medicine. Experience of a year-long internship plus a 6 to 8 year neurosurgical residency is reuired. A license is required to practice medicine; voluntary certifications exist and can expand career oppurtuities.
Demand for this Profession:
In orfer to become a neurosurgeon you must have critical thinking skills. You need to make sure you can make time-sensitive decisons. Teamwork is a big skill that you need, Teamwork proves an essential part of any surgeon’s job. You also need other qualities like physical stamina, motor skills, reading comprehension, and technology savvy.
Reflection:
I’m not sure if the medical field wouls suit me. Especially being a neurosurgeon. A neurosurgeon is a big role to play and one mistake can ruin someone life. I think it is a career where I would have to be worrying a lot and something that won’t leave my conscience if I do something wrong.
