Orthopedic Surgeon Duties and Responsibilities: Orthopedic surgens work with the musculoskeletal system, which includes bones, joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. They perform surgeryto adress trauma, tumors, injuries, infections, and other conditions requiring surgical intervention. Salary: The median surgeon orthopedic salary is $452,686, with a range usually between $355,927-$585,605, however this can vary widely depending on a variety of factors. Education: After comepleting a 4 year bachelor’s degree program in biology, pre-medicine or a related field, aspiring orthopedic surgeons must complete four additionalyears of medical school, followed by a 4-5 year orthopedic surgery residency in a hospital. Demand for this Profession: Some requirements to become an orthopedic surgeon are active listening , critical thinker, complex problem solving, judgement and desicion making, reading comprehension, speaking, active learing, monitoring, writing, and coordinating skills. Reflection: I perosnally don’t think I have the skills to become an orthopedic surgeon. Although it is a consideration.
